Holy Allergies, Batman!

So, today I went to the allergist for allergy testing.  I've been to the allergist before, but I've never actually been tested for all the possible things I'm allergic to.  Turns out, I'm allergic to just about everything.  Specifically, the following:

All grasses
All weeds
All trees, except pines and mountain cedar. (Go pines and mountain cedar!)
Most varieties of mold
Cockroaches (Um, ewwww!)
My dogs (Um, bummer!)
Feathers
Rabbit and Horse Hair
Tobacco
Dust

And, here comes the real doozies:

Milk (Um, why do you hate me, universe?)
Wheat
Chicken
Beef
Pork
Peanuts
CHOCOLATE (Um, W.T.F. Seriously, why do you hate me, universe?)
Pineapple
Soyboans

Now, it's not like I break out in hives when I eat these things or anything. So I can still sometimes eat dairy and wheat and chocolate. And even chocolate dipped in peanut butter, dammit!  It would just be a good idea for me to cut back on all of those things. So looks like from now on I'll be eating a shizz-ton of seafood and vegetables. Except for carrots (because, surprise!, I'm allergic to those too.) Bonus side effect: maybe I'll be forced to become a lot healthier??

  2. First, BUMMER!!! Food testing is done by eating/eliminating certain things. I was always told it wasn't something they could do in the office.

  3. But who will eat cheeseburgers with me on the weekends???

I've heard that if you have a food allergy and you cut it out of your diet for a while (like, years, I think), you can sometimes reintroduce it without any problems. So there's always hope.

Also, not to get all preachy-healthy up in yo face, but about two weeks ago I cut out all caffiene and processed sugar and empty carbs. I've mostly been subsisting on veggies, chicken and turkey. I did it because I'm going to the Symphony Ball on Friday and the dress I want to wear is still just a hair too small and I thought it might help me lose a little weight, but a side effect has been that I feel AMAZING. Except for the fact that my food is kind of boring. That makes me sad, because you know how much I like cheeseburgers. But seriously, I have so much energy. So having to switch to mostly fruits and veggies might help you in that area too.

  4. Robin, that is sort of what I am going for. I am hoping that by changing my diet I'll feel better and hopefully lose some weight since I'm presumably making better choices by eating more fresh, healthy food. Right now I'm focusing on cutting out meat and limiting wheat, maybe I'll make more changes later. HOWEVER, I will still spring for the occasional weekend cheeseburger if you are up for it!
