If I can ever get my camera to work, I'm going to upload pics from my super fun vaycay to Michigan over July 4th weekend.
But today I want to share this blog about an inspiring couple who just lost their beautiful 8-month old son, James, to a brain tumor. I saw a link to their blog on facebook about 10 days ago, and I've had my mind on this family ever since. Despite the loss of their son, this couple is an inspiring example of faith, and I was really moved by their story. If you have any money to spare, please consider donating to the fund they established in honor of James. All contributions will go toward research on Rhabadoid tumors, which is what their son had and which is a relatively new tumor with a very low survival rate. I know I'll be making a contribution after my next payday.
Read part of the blog about James and feel heartbroken but also quite selfish and guilty. Reading about the highs and lows of this family in just 8 months plus that in the time I've been off - and complained that it was ONLY five weeks - this family's entire world turned upside down. Like you I'm amazed at their strength and faith and selfishly feel there's a lesson in here for me too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI had the same reaction. Their struggles really brought into perspective the things I had/have been complaining about lately. I am planning to buy one of those giraffe necklaces james's mom posted once they are back in stock to wear as a constant reminder of how fortunate and blessed I am.
